"Preserving Our Railroad Heritage"
Under the direction of Wally Haas many SCRPS members volunteered to fix up the old former Southern Pacific downtown Redding Depot. Local businesses have graciously donated various supplies; paint, roofing materials, roofing installation, new gutters, downspouts, and bricks for the planters and tree wells.

What started out as a project to spruce up the depot quickly developed into a full restoration effort. Today the depot sports a new roof, HVAC system, plumbing, landscaping, and much more.

Best of all the depot is once more available for Amtrak passengers while they wait for the trains. The depot is opened one hour before the first scheduled train and provides much needed shelter from the elements.
